North of the Giroff Mountains, standing as the first defence against the Fallen Gods and the armies of demons is the underground kingdom of Virenheim, home to Deep Elves with very special powers. Said to have gained magical abilities thanks to twelve Sacred Stones gifted from the Primal God Nabuto, the restrictive society has been undergoing brutal attacks more frequently since ten of the stones were stolen. Despite the lack of stones, the seeming immortal king has always maintained the magic shield to protect his people and amongst the ranks of the twenty noblest families has been the Benaga, distant relatives of the king legendary in their fighting ability, so much so that the enemies of the land title them Klangschwert “noisy sword”. But due to family rivalries and the constant need to protect the people at the cost of their own lives, the most loyal house of Virenheim has been depleted to just two members… two female members. Law states women cannot hold rank, cannot act as men and cannot be true warriors, but the eldest daughter Anouk has proven the opposite. With the Benaga Household so important, the council has tried to look the other way, but instead seem to punish her supporters much more firmly. Anouk wants change in the society, but she also wants answers to questions on her own past… when her little sister Damara accidentally sponsors a foreigner, some monstrous creature called the Karayan, into securing a high position in Virenheim the chance appears for all the unhappy hearts in Virenheim to move. But there must be something else at work in their world for these curious incidents, for the arrival of the Karayan sparks a return of hope and heralds the return of Archdemons and worse… The First in a series of Fantasy delving into the magical and political Kingdom of Virenheim and its most important family.
