Every year, when October arrives, the Ohio nights become a little colder, a little quieter—a little darker. Dead tree branches reach to the sky and lightly brush the celestial night, like fingers from a fragile corpse. The October nights in Georgesville, Ohio, although cold and dark, don’t stay quiet for long. The grounds are occupied by restless spirits, both innocent and malevolent. They stalk the nights, playing their games, whispering into the chilly breeze—toying with those who are brave enough to still call the area home. Today, Georgesville celebrates Halloween by hosting a festival, and taking attendees on a “Scare Walk” where the dead spirits are said to roam. Who exactly are these spirits?
