Vlayn Par’'Wil, a young man who is native to one of the most impoverished planets in the entire Kirbinian Galaxy, Xenamus, is caught between survival and death. A seemingly incurable, violent illness is plaguing the unending deserts known as Jaadakin County. It is ransacking the cities and making the inhabitants get down on their knees and suffer at the hands of it. The affluent metropolis of Ellmorr secretly withholds the cure to the illness and stands sturdily and guarded above all the chaos atop the Fraygen Plateau, safe from the disease, watching the people die below it. The need to keep moving is merely instinctual, but how bad does Vlayn want to live on a planet that shows no mercy and where his apparent future is loneliness, killing, and starvation? There is one hope left for Vlayn – the city of Ellmorr.
