Kurt caught Samantha’s eyes through the rear view. She returned the gaze. Samantha bit the tip of her thumb. Kurt saw blue eyes, clear eyes, set in a face void of regret for what she had done. He’d seen those eyes before, in the faces of child assassins in Yemen. “They’ll send others,” she said, “They always do.”
