Five action-packed days focus on the Living Wage Movement’s bus caravan from Iowa to a huge Labor Day rally in Washington, D.C. Led by Robyn Sherwood, the LWM raised the minimum wage in parts of the upper Midwest through ballot initiatives and legislative action, overcoming dirty tricks and obstructionism spearheaded by retail giant MegaSmartMart. The story opens on the space station of billionaire CEO and liberal presidential candidate Tom Cartwright’s GCIS, where station engineer Peter Abelard is eavesdropping on a newly discovered civilization. His mission ends abruptly as the station floods. On earth, Wall Street executive Sarah Stevenson uncovers possible market manipulation which could undermine our financial systems. Cartwright warns Sherwood of the government’s suspicion that the LWM is involved. Discovery of an alien spaceship on the moon, coupled with mysterious incidents on earth, complicate an already tense situation. President Hedges, warned of the spaceship and confronting the unfolding financial debacle, considers drastic action. Can our country survive?
