Alex Thornton has loved only one girl since he was a child. Adriana. However, she married his brother and he ran off to join the Army. Years later, after his brother has died and he has returned, he offers her a place to live with him in a house he's trying to fix up in the back woods of Virginia. The house has a secret though. It turns out that it isn't racoons they have in the attic. Slowly the supernatural activity begins to increase. They hear crying, doors opening and begin to see shadowy people. As he tries to win back the girl he loves, he struggles to keep a hold of his house and his sanity. An abandoned town near the old house holds clues to the cause of the frightening events.
