To the wealthy land developer Brevan Fitzgerald, the tale of a hideous island monster that lurked within the confines of a dark lagoon was nothing more than a Hollywood rip-off concocted to scare away the tourists. To the Devoe Island natives, the creature they called “The Unguarded Evil” was nothing less than devil himself and as real as their wooden voodoo symbols.
