Vampires should bite, and they should bite hard. An ancient vampire called a 'methuselah' entertains a younger vampire curious about the history of the clan she comes from. But does the ancient one she speaks with have any answers for her at all? Or is this all a mad game of cat and mouse? Take a walk through a tower of old, where the lightning crashes but never is there the sound of thunder. A tower around which wolves forever howl, and over which the sky never brightens, and the sun never shines. Leading us along this stony and rubble filled path through history is an old vampire who hates humankind. There are no sparkles in her eyes as she shares her command of those whom she considers nothing more than food or slaves. She pulls no punches when she forces the narrator into acts of blood and murder for her entertainment. And her purpose is wicked and dark as at last the earnest young vamp is led to the topmost room of the tower, where the shadows chitter and change, where the wind moves only to make the darkness dance. And where all questions will be answered, so that deeper ones can be raised. Is this the progenitor of the Carian clan? Or is this 'methuselah' purely insane?
