The town of Spiritwood gets its name from an Indian legend that tells of spirits living in the woods surrounding the town...the thing is, the legend is true. There is an evil held captive in the vast wilderness surrounding the town of Spiritwood. When Jed Guiness buys a place and moves to Spiritwood from Chicago, he accidently unleashes that evil. Now, he and a handful of others must try to re-capture that evil before the entire town is destroyed.
From the Inside Flap
G.J. Wise is a true fabulist in the tradition of Richard Matheson and Harlan Ellison, creating original and startling fantasy characters and interjecting them into our cold dark reality, sadly in need of such fantastic occupants.-George Wilhite, author of "Silhouette of DarknessThe tension mounts almost uncontrollably until the final line. Creepy and topical, Spiritwood is a must read.-K.G. McAbee, author of "The Clockwork Pirates" series
From the Back Cover
In Spiritwood, Wise demonstrates that he is a true artist. What are storytellers, after all, but sculptors that see what lies hidden, then reveal it to those who have the eyes to see? Wise is also one of those writers who is a shaman; he calls us to look within for the courage to embark upon a transformative journey, a journey where we not only question the nature of reality (and yes, our life purpose), but discover ourselves gazing into the scrying pond of our souls. There are many questions Spiritwood demands you answer, but these are the most profound: What are we willing to sacrifice to save those we love? What are we willing to do to rid the world of evil? -Terrie Leigh Relf, author of "The Waters of Nyr" and co-author of "The Blood Journey Saga" series.
