The Passenger's Omission

A young playwright, boozing and hiding in Paris from an experience in New York he can’t or won’t forget, makes an ignoble decision. It leads him to a near-death experience, months in the hospital, and finally back to a home and collection of people he’d intended never to see again. Reconnecting with and manipulating old friends and enemies alike, the young man - known only as the passenger - sets a dangerous plan in motion. The Passenger’s Omission is a literary horror novel that ferries the reader between Paris, New York and St. Louis, developing unreliable past & present timelines that may have led our fellow to his most audacious stunt: the purchase of the abandoned St. Louis city insane asylum. While his efforts to convert it into a self-sustaining artists’ colony convey good intentions, it’s no mere philanthropy. The passenger will bend the artists to his own ends on a journey more fraught than his unwitting players might have conceived, in a relentless pursuit to mend wounds that might have been better left to fester. Interfering with local politics and peering into anguished secrets buried beneath the city's surface, the passenger uses new-found influence to move toward toppling the status quo, as well as pursuing another, far darker goal.
