Hi. I'm Marley Scrood and this is my story. See, I had my life completely under control. My parents did everything I told them to, the kids at school were afraid of me, and even most of the teachers left me alone. Then one night my old friend, Jake, flew into my bedroom with a message. The weird thing was that he was dead. Holy crap!!

About the Author

Dear Readers. Marley is based on one of my students, who wouldn't get out of my head until I told his story. It's a little dark, but then so was he. I like to think it's a message to someone out there, and that's why Marley insisted I write it. Jodee Steffensen is a middle school SPED teacher who loves ghost stories, reading, writing, and animals - especially her ghost cat named Boo. She loves to have her students read her stories because they always give sincerely candid advice, for which she's very grateful.
