A rare look at a television series that could have been. In the late 1980s, primetime soap operas and "the next generation" TV series were popping up everywhere. A group of writers got together and devised an plan to bring Dark Shadows, the popular ABC daytime soap opera, back as a primetime drama. Here, for the first time in print, is the original proposal and first season story proposal. Ultimately, Dan Curtis, the creator of the original Dark Shadows series, rejected this project. However, Darker Shadows is a must-read for the fans and an excellent learning tool for aspiring television writers wanting to know how primetime soaps are conceived and written.
