Shadow was eleven and his brother David eight. It was not like their father to be up before ten on a Saturday morning. He decided to drive the family up to the Catskill Mountains for the day. He had been feeling guilty about not spending more time with his wife and the boys. He thought this might bring them closer together. He was wrong, and this was a major incident involving Shadow, his oldest. Thanks to his actions, this would be the last time the family tried to spend some real time together.I'm sorry — where are my manners? My name is ... you know what — I'd rather not disclose that information right now, and you can't make me! No, but seriously, I will reveal my identity at the appropriate time when it is completely necessary. It just doesn't make any sense right now to tell you who I am. But there will come a time when you will not only need to know but also want to know in the worst way. I don't expect this to make sense right now, but believe me — it will. Just read, and all your deepest, darkest questions and visions will be answered. Trust me, please! The scenic drive was really something to look at. The family played various singing games and laughed as if they went away every weekend. The boys were very excited. It wasn't often they left town. The ride lasted around two hours, maybe a little less. Before they went to the game farm, it was time to stretch their legs and get a bite to eat. They began eating lunch when their father told them about the big petting zoo nearby. He got them cheeseburgers, fries, and cola. The boys were never allowed to have soda, so this was a real treat. At the end of lunch, the boys were asked to throw away their trash. That's when David noticed his older brother putting something sharp into his pants pocket. He wasn't sure what it was, but he saw evil in Shadow's eyes. They got their tickets and went through the large gate into the park. It was exquisite; there were animals all over the place. They were enclosed, of course. This was no safari! Shadow was already acting like a spoiled brat. He was running all over the park, knocking over kids and taunting every animal he saw. David stayed with his parents; he was too young to be off by himself.Shadow ran as fast as his legs would let him. He ran so fast that he knocked down a little girl who was feeding some birds with her mother. Shadow didn't even stop to say he was sorry or to see if she was okay. He had already gone zipping by and was headed toward the petting zoo.He shoved his way through the long line until he was told to relax by a big guy wearing a vest. After waiting patiently, he was finally let in. Some of the animals were a little more aggressive than others. Shadow went straight to buy some feed from the booth. "How many cups would you like, sweetie?""Two, please." He wanted to have enough treats for all the animals. He made his way through the crowded area that was filled with kids. He looked for the animals that were not being fed. Over in the corner, he noticed a little black-and-white goat. It had two little horns, except one of them appeared to be chipped. He had an all-white coat with a few black spots. He was adorable. How could anybody neglect this bundle of fur!Shadow made his way toward his target already with food in hand! The goat seemed to like Shadow and wanted to be friendly. He reached out his hand and allowed the goat to come closer. Showing no fear, the goat began to eat
