H.G. Wells' original tale of horror with accompanying script for dramatic adaptation. In The Island of Doctor Moreau, Wells explores and dramatizes the innate struggle in Man between his animal nature and higher moral aspirations, and sets this against the (at the time) new innovations of modern science, specifically medial science. The story is written as the journal of Edward Prendick and his strange odyssey of being lost at sea, rescued, and then trapped on an island with a mad doctor and his half-animal, half-human creations.
