Monster hunting is a tradition in the Rath family, and Abigail Rath has learned the hard way that there are monsters and there are monsters. Right now, the monsters aren’t as big a problem as turning fourteen and noticing Nigel Graham, a boy at her new school. Nigel seems ordinary, compared to her monster hunting friends, although he’s insufferably arrogant, in a kind of ridiculously attractive and infuriating way.Still, public school is working out well, her best friend Vince is showing her the ropes, and Abby is looking to make her mark. Her new science teacher suggests getting involved with the science fair, and Abby embraces her project with a zeal second only to her mom’s. Nigel is her chief competition, but Abby is sure she can best him. When other students begin losing their intellects, and Nigel reveals a secret lab at the school, Abby is sure he’s up to something sinister. Can Abby juggle winning the science fair, solving the mystery of lost intelligences, and discovering the secret identity of the mad genius known as Dr. Danger? Yeah, she’s pretty sure she can.
