A killer is on the prowl in 19th century Rookhaven, known only by his unofficial nickname, the Ripper. Victims are discovered with their throats cut and so few clues left behind that the city has sent their best officer, Chief Inspector Thomas Danforth, to investigate. A disillusioned Danforth guesses the murders have been committed by a cunning sociopath. A dangerous villain maybe, but nothing unheard of in the city’s criminal underworld. However, as Thomas pieces together the murderer’s secrets, he finds himself on the trail of a sinister conspiracy, and a horrifying truth far beyond his wildest dreams. With each secret he uncovers, Thomas begins to realize the fate of the entire city may become his responsibility.
