“You’re an actual person? I always thought you were just a state of being.” So speaks philosophy professor Levi Christopher after he has a heart attack and meets none other than Death himself. Death, upon seeing the unique reaction to him, decides to take Levi along as he visits other souls of the recently deceased. Levi is to record what he sees and hears, and then report it back to the world of the living. Along the way, Levi meets people from all backgrounds. Ancient and modern, rich and poor, men and women. He also learns that Death, far from being the Grim Reaper of folklore, is in fact a complex and thoughtful servant of God with his own story. But before he can learn all the secrets of eternity, and how they relate to those living on Earth in time, he must also journey through the depths of hell and the heights of heaven.
