Olive Childress is introduced as a normal modern day six year old who becomes the victim of unspeakable abuse along with her best friend, Mary. Mary disappears unexpectedly and as Olive approaches her teen aged years, she escapes her twisted past when her parents move her to the quaint town of Shadow Dale. She settles into an ordinary, peaceful existence for a time until things begin to fall apart once again when she becomes involved with drugs and alcohol and subsequently covers up a hit and run accident that leaves a man dead. Olive reconnects with her childhood friend Mary who "helps" her cope with the nightmare her life becomes. If you consider a mentally disturbed, vicious, violent psychopath to be a help… Mary leads Olive down a dark path that exposes Olive to violent lovers, rape, organized crime and so much more. And it all comes to a heart stopping conclusion in Mary Contrary: Volume one of The Nursery Rhyme Chronicles.
