This little work is a re-released variant of a combination "chap-book" and folk magic work dating to the late 17th century. It may indeed have been in part the origin of some of the infamous "Norwood Gypsy" texts, one of which was even mentioned briefly in the Salem Witch Trial proceedings. This work combines a fictional story meant for young adults (specifically related to courtship and luck) with some folk charms which were oft-repeated in fortune telling works for decades thereafter.
