Kamau Amani is a 15 year old black, Caribbean boy who lives on Isle Dumas; an Island located in the Atlantic Ocean. His Grandmother has been telling him about stories of superstition since he was young, and that he needs to be careful when he's outside at night. Kam has his world completely turned upside down in more ways than one when he finds out that Jumbies, and other creatures that go bump in the night are actually real! Delve into this original Caribbean mythological story that focuses on culture, action, and most importantly...staying alive.

About the Author

We are indebted to Yohance Henley for his major contributions and support in the production of Kam: The Shadow Within. Without his words of encouragement the writing of the book would not have been possible. We are grateful to the people who gave us their insight on the knowledge of Caribbean mythology; which sparked ideas and new information that would cultivate and grow in the book. As boys, we read a plethora of fiction stories, but there were certain titles that shaped our interest and love for fiction, so we want to thank those authors from the bottom of our hearts.
