The Turn of the Screw is an 1898 horror novella by Henry James which first appeared in serial format in Collier's Weekly (January 27 – April 16, 1898).The novella follows a governess who becomes convinced that the grounds are haunted while caring for two oddly silent children at a large, imposing country mansion and estate in Essex, England. The helpless governess in this her first job, sees phantoms who creep closer and closer to her and the children. It’s a chilling psychological masterpiece that mixes the supernatural of the world with the phantoms of the human mind. James’ Turn of the Screw has endured as one of the most famous ghost stories of all time.
