Elizabeth is just an ordinary teenager living a quiet life in a small town until her grandmother dies, leaving her on her own. She finds a journal left behind by her grandmother that reveals long-kept family secrets that challenge everything Elizabeth has ever believed about herself, her friends and her community. A mysterious woman, claiming to be a cousin Elizabeth never heard of, moves in and Elizabeth must decide whether or not to trust the stranger. As her eighteenth birthday approaches on Halloween, Elizabeth is thrust out of the innocent world of school dances and into a world of witches, vampires, werewolves and mermaids, where no one is who they appear and everyone seems to have something to hide.
