Those muttered shoulda, coulda, wouldas are almost rhetorical by nature. No one really expects a halfhearted "if only" to amount to anything, just harmless wishful thinking. On a stormy day in March, Felix Wyette loses his job and when he utters that he shoulda done something about it, he is somehow taken back to the exact time it happened. Over and over again. When his wife, Lucy, finds out Felix has lost his job and then lied to her about it, she becomes angry and informs Felix that she coulda married another boy she dated in high school. For Lucy that begins an eighteen month long sojourn with five different men, in five different locations, in five different years. When they finally get back together, Felix and Lucy find their feelings for each other has changed and their marriage is falling apart. That's when Felix mutters one last woulda and changes everything.
