Fiona DuBois is a middle-aged divorced woman. She's also a member of the Black Bayou DuBois witch family in St. Elizabeth, Louisiana. When Marcus Lourdes, world-famous author of Gothic Horror comes into her bookstore one night, her life is thrown into a jumble of activity. The man wants to hold a book signing in her little shop. When the author dies a few weeks before the event, Fiona's world seems doomed. She hires her teenage niece to work in the store and they are intimidated by a group of debt collectors who claim Fiona and her former husband owe them a large sum of money. Lourdes's publisher begins to press Fiona to find his local home where he was writing his latest manuscript. When she locates the house, she can't believe the man had been living there. Fiona and her friends remove some items from the home to display in the store, but they bring back more with them than they expect. Black Bayou is filled with the things from horror films. Those things all come together in Bad Moon Rising.
