It’s 1989 in Reseda, California, and Jenny Smith has a ghost story to tell you. She lost her parents in a car accident at age thirteen, lives in a foster home, and is bullied by the school cheerleader. That’s not the worst of it: Jenny Smith saw the ghosts of her parents where they were killed, in the shoulder lane of the 405 freeway. To deal with it all she cuts her arms, but nothing will help when she’s forced to witness the murder of her school bully at graduation ceremony. Traumatized and scared of the police, Jenny admits herself into a psychiatric facility. Her doctor insists the ghosts aren’t real, but they start appearing in larger numbers—shadowy figures outside the hospital, a suicide victim, voices in her head. As more apparitions appear, she questions her sanity… and assumes her dead classmate is coming for her.
