THE RETURN OF MAJORANE JANE is the story of… well, I guess it sorta depends on who you ask. If you ask Olivia Lanctan, she’d tell you this is the story of how she reconnected with the titular Majorane Jane, a long-lost friend of her sorely-missed Mom. It’s the story of how Ollie learned that there is far, far more to the world than she ever dared to dream: that there are dark monsters and strange hidden truths about the haunted lands of Maine. It’s the story of how she learned to move on, to forgive, to persevere. Most importantly, it’s the story of how she finally got to quit that terrible burger job. If you ask Olivia’s dad, Sheriff Lanctan, he’ll tell you a very different story. To the single-father lawman this is the story of a mysterious spook that showed up in his life almost twenty years ago named Majorane Jane, and how every time she appears there’s always another ghost or UFO or some other Twilight Zone nonsense to deal with. It’s the story of how that stranger became a valued coworker, a friend… and it’s the story of that friend who, when they all needed her the most, disappeared for ten years with nary a word, just like she always does. It’s a story about the unknown, and exactly how much fear of it is prudent. If you ask Majorane… well, she won’t say much, darling. She’s a bundle of mysteries wrapped an enigma, smothered in conundrum sauce and dressed in a fetching green hat. One-part Man-in-Black, one-part Miss Frizzle, and two-parts annoyingly cryptic, it’s hard to draw the line between myth and reality with the illusive Majorane Jane. She’d just like to remind you to avoid antagonizing ice monsters, to never try to communicate with the death, and to always look both ways at the flying saucer crossing...
