If you could be anything you wanted to be, would you still be you? At the edge of Tamborine, in Queensland's South, exists a path to a land of extraordinary ability. Truth seeker Jed is drawn into a sublime world of beauty and cruelty when he befriends a girl named Raina and her quirky, alluring family. Childhood friends Tess and Curtis follow Jed into a world beyond their hopes and fears. On their travels they encounter Otu, an inventor who acts as guide and protector on his quest to reunite with Raina's brother Neiko. Raina's valiant efforts are put to extraordinary use as sinister events unfold. Likewise, Jed develops his own new abilities, challenging himself in ways he had never imagined. In desperation he takes on a role almost beyond his capabilities, altering his state of mind forever. The small group cannot make it through unscathed. They risk their hopes of freedom, questioning what they must do in order to secure it. Raina discovers that the only way back to herself, and to all that she loves, appears entirely out of reach. Wing Shadows is tale of uncertainty, of not always having the answers, or knowing what to do, but always believing that you are capable of more than you know. Recommended for readers over 15 years of age.
