Charlie Spellman is a bad boy. Very bad. There are things his new parents don't know about the boy, and if they had known, they would never have adopted him. The ten-year-old is the terror of the neighborhood, and most people just stay out of his way. Charlie is fascinated with the spiders in the cellar, and when he is grounded for breaking Mrs. Grandy's tea set, he doesn't mind. It just gives him more time to experiment with the arachnids. Obsessed with the eight-legged creatures, Charlie can't seem to get enough of them, and even moves his bedroom down in the dusty old basement to be closer to his, 'friends." He has a plan for one particular spider, and decides to experiment. Oh, what a tangled web we weave goes the old saying when Charlie gets much more than he bargained for in the dank, dark, basement bedroom.
