Tom Willis knows things – things that he couldn’t possibly know if it were not for the sweet whispers that only he can hear coming from the scrolled, hand-carved woodwork of Knob Hill, his family’s isolated Tudor mansion in Michigan. Tom’s father is embarrassed by his huge, simple-minded son, so he keeps him hidden away at Knob Hill, where he is frequently subjected to torture by his psychotic and incestuous mother. An unexpected letter triggers a psychotic episode in his mother, causing her to attack and humiliate Tom more savagely than ever before. Blinded by rage, and sickened to his core, Tom snaps. He finds that his actions have tragic, generation-spanning consequences, so he turns to the whispers in his head, and listens for a way to rewrite history.
