The Holocaust in Albert Schecter

The grandson of a Holocaust survivor, Albert Schecter thought he knew its horrors, until he starts reliving it. Attending college in New York City, Albert thinks a bright future is ahead. Instead, he becomes mired in the past. Haunted by nightmares of death camps and hallucinations of Nazis goose-stepping down Broadway, beggars with yellow stars sewn to their coats, and subway cars the transform into cattle cars, his life starts to unravel. Attempting to come to grips with the past and maintain his own sanity he has to revisit his family's history. A journey that takes him to Israel, Germany and finally Poland, where he uncovers the true horror of his grandfather's life.
