It is a story told in hush voices. Who can dare speak clearly loud? The walls have ears to absorb the details. The darkness outside creeps with….mystery! To each in houses they keep their fake peace. They rest in fear of unknown outside. It all goes well until the lead suspect to the village killings is arrested. They say he is a witch; some claim he is a blood thirst night runner. Who wants to dare know the truth? Ignorance is a celebrated lull. Eliza returns to the village for the funeral arrangement of her dead mother. She graces the village earliest in the morning. A step she takes confidently heading home. In the darkness she wades. The night’s tentacles embrace and assure her safety. It is all encouragingly quiet. She can smell home. The moon shines upon her soul encouraging her steps. Something stands in front of her. She is stuck at the spot. The figure stands looking at her. She thinks it is one figure. They are many figures sniffing her. Fear cripples her soul as human figures surround her. They want to rob her precious asset. She resists. No! She lets go of her resistance giving in to the desires of the sons of beasts. The beasts have their way with her. They rape her! They tell her she is lovely, sweet, beautiful and special! To the beasts the crime is a game. The victim is vanquished! An owl is a bad omen. Where it lands there is death pronunciation. Eliza is an owl. After the villagers chased the night runner Eliza becomes the bait to lure him back home. A journey Eliza makes to prison cells. He sees the night runner wasted. The system can be callous. She talks to him. Eliza’s eyes darken with hate, bitterness and anger to revenge but she is incapable to take action. Her eyes are filled with painful tears. A drop disentangles from the bubble of tear and falls. The droplet lands on the night runner's palm. He tastes her salty drop. Her rape incidence floods his mind. The village will be visited upon. The young men turned beasts roaming the village are yet to adapt to the darkness. It is their choice to perish! Eliza’s call, the owl's call, invites death! Rape was the least of crimes the beasts committed. The blood of the wicked will satisfy the righteous lives lost. WALK when you see it earliest. ADAPT if you can understand the times. If you want to be a hero to stand in its way then adios, PERISH!
