On New Year's Eve, the Rocking Horse Saloon was packed, which was not surprising given it was the only gay bar for several counties. Located halfway between Big Spring and Lake Thomas, the rustic former bait shop sat far enough off the highway that most folks drove right past without ever realizing the joint was there. A couple dozen college guys and a handful of locals who only ventured out on special occasions partied alongside the usual suspects. It was a great evening until some very disturbed individuals went on a murderous rampage.
