Katrina Cavendish is dead and buried, although not in her own grave.Sally Night, mistress of Katrina’s husband is also dead, buried in Katrina’s grave. Both murdered by the same man. Jonathan James Mitchell, Katrina’s second husband. Katrina and Sally are trapped between heaven and hell; trapped in a place they have come to know as No Man’s Land, known to those who float around there as NML. From their lofty position they watch, wait and wonder how they can stop Jonathan from making attempts on the lives of his step children, Alexander Giles North Cavendish and his sister Amy. They, along with their grandfather Giles Albert, now control the vast pharmaceutical business of ‘Cavendish’ which was started on a market stall by Mabel Brown, grandmother of Giles in 1919.With Katrina’s family unaware she had been murdered, they had no reason to suspect their lives may be in danger as their stepfather attempts to take over ‘Cavendish.’ It is Katrina’s hope, that along with Sally’s help, she will somehow be able to warn her family. As Katrina flits back and forth between Earth and NML, Sally tries to get advice from those who, like them, also float around NML. She is hoping someone will tell her how to contact the living.
