The Dibbs family have lived in the house for almost fourteen years. It's was like a family member to them. It was perfect...perfect except for the orange shag carpeting covering the basement. While remodeling their basement they find a small trapdoor hidden underneath the hideous carpet. During "The scare game", the children's version of hide and seek, Thirteen year old Jessica thinks she sees a monster peek out from the trapdoor. Her parents don't believe her, citing the near constant stream of horror movies she has been watching lately. Is she imagining things or is there something evil living underneath the house? In a departure from his typical gruesome tales, horror author Joe Knetter wanted to write something that his whole family could enjoy. He enlisted the help of his eleven year old daughter Katie to help him craft the tale. Trapdoor was the result.
