Quirk is a quiet killer. “Quirk the Quiet One” follows a divine assassin as he travels through an ashen and surreal land killing those who his lord – the Noble Iam – instructs him to destroy. This cerebral novella traverses the land inhabited by various and dark beings, telling stories at the center of our cultural core. Those of his order are known to be a boastful bunch, but Quirk reserves his words leading to the ultimate effect in his victims’ last breaths: a cold and primal fear. Commanded by the mysterious and seemingly immortal Noble Iam, Quirk kills those Iam fears most. This novella follows Quirk the Quiet One as he does his master’s bidding. He secretly hopes to have a final confrontation with the Noble Iam, so Quirk may leave the drab world of Iam and seek the true light behind the Gray Sun. The novella falls with the genres of dark fantasy and horror. The prologue serves to introduce Quirk in his own words. The twelve chapters show him engaged in violent and otherworldly conflict with the followers of the Noble Iam. Quirk is sent to kill those who have served Iam too well. Iam is a jealous and paranoid lord, who will destroy his most loyal followers if he fears they pose a future threat against him. Quirk is such a follower. Will he reach the light he is so desperately seeking or will he wake in the Dim Hall, still in the service of Iam and fearful of ever questioning his master again?
