About the Author

Algernon Blackwood was born in Kent and is best known for his story "The Willows" which is considered one of the finest supernatural tales ever written.He was the son of the widowed Duchess of Manchester and her second husband, Sir Stevenson Arthur Blackwood, a clerk in the Treasury and later Secretary of the Post Office. He finished college at Wellington College. He later moved to Canada and lived in the wilderness for some time. He moved to New York to work for the 'Evening Sun'. He went on to become a reporter for the 'New York Times'. After traveling abroad and serving in the military, Blackwood set to writing his many tales of horror.
