The ballad of Alice Brand tells the tale of two lovers, Alice and Richard, forced to flee when Richard kills Alice's brother. They go to live in a fairy wood and run afoul of the Elf King there who sends a very unexpected opponent against them. This retelling follows the basic bones of the original story but with a trans main character and a very different ending.
