Old Ebenezer had worked for the Cemeteries and Parks department of his local council since leaving school at the age of fourteen many many years ago; he must have dug hundreds if not thousands of graves in his time but now well into his eighties and long past retirement age he was still working, helping out by keeping the cemetery clean and tidy..His workmates, George and young John did the much harder work of digging the graves.Ebenezer had no family, he never married and having no family of his own he adopted the dead people in the cemetery and would spend many hours talking to them whilst performing his duties.Short Story Fiction
