The story follows the life of Starshine Erdriech, a teenage witch sheltered nearly her entire life. Orphaned when she was a toddler, Star has been raised in the small California town of Red Bluff by her three brothers, one of whom is her fraternal twin. Connected at birth by their gift of telepathy, the two find themselves on the cusp of being granted their full elemental powers on their seventeenth birthday where everything is bound to change.Blessed with being born into a family of masculine witches, she chooses the course of least resistance and permits her brothers to coddle her. This, nevertheless, leaves her vulnerable to the Five Elements, and without the ability to control them, she inadvertently grants them unrestricted access to use her energies as they see fit. After an unexpected encounter with the evil that has moved into her town, she is reunited with an old coven member that wants nothing more than to help her and the family eradicate the wickedness in her hometown. Working to keep each other safe, Star finds herself a confidant in her old friend which awakens a spark that soon becomes a flame. Now, with a demon and a rogue witch kidnapping young girls, and transforming them into their demon army, Starshine must await her Awakening to be granted her full powers from the Elements in order to assist her coven in the upcoming war. Struggling to accept the world around her changing, she must battle between who she was and who she is meant to be.
