Samhain: and other stories

BLUEMOON PRESS proudly presents SAMHAIN, a collection of fifteen scary stories, from the archives of author TIMOTHY PATRICK KIRBY. Just in time for Halloween, Kirby has whipped up plenty of ghouls this time around, whether they be in the form of human monsters, or the supernatural or otherwise. We've got mischievous and deadly tiny woodland creatures who invade THE WOOSHED and terrorize a little girl and her beloved pets; mysterious summer flowers that change shape, color, and aroma for specific reasons, in DUNEFLOWERS; a little boy who longs for the bullies at his elementary school to stop harassing him, and his solution to this problem in WHEN I GROW UP; CALLIE DAVIS is a frightened old woman who has been institutionalized, and fears for her life; THE MAPLE LAKE HORROR features some legendary creatures and a group of reckless teens who kill one of their offspring; THE MADDER SISTERS, two dangerous spinsters who invite us to their home for a succulent dinner; BEACHKILL is quite possibly a cautionary tale about the end of the world; BAND CAMP features a band teacher who may or may not have murdered one of her students; THE TOMBSTONE gives us a very creepy take on what might happen if you mess with the wrong sort of otherworldly spirit; In HUNTING SEASON, we learn about an age old custom that takes place on Halloween in a small Michigan village, and it isn't going door to door for candy; CHESTER is a straight up tale of revenge, and it isn't pretty; and finally, on the morning of SAMHAIN, the real boogeyman awakens in the form of a seven-year-old boy. I have added three more stories from my archives: SKINNY JOE: A lonely middle-aged man attempts to throw a Halloween Party much to his roommate's surprise and chagrin: MRS. APPLEGATE'S HOUSE of WORSHIP: A teenage girl yearns for a better life. When she meets Mrs. Applegate, suddenly all of her dreams are coming true. Or are they? And lastly... THE OLD MacTavish PLACE takes place on what else, Halloween Night. Three boys plan to find out exactly what's going on in the abandoned country farm where murder and mayhem supposedly took place more than twenty years ago, on Halloween Night! A classic spooky tale for the occasion. As always... PLEASANT NIGHTMARES!!!
