The Island: Shapeshifters & An Ancient Curse

Beware of the full moon . . . On a tiny island off the foggy coast of Maine, a young woman ignores the warning. Now her half-eaten corpse is food for the buzzards. A lion or tiger is the theory, but during his investigation, what Detective Simeon Smythe, Portland PD, begins to believe is beyond reason. A half-man, half-beast? No, not possible. Then he realizes his worst nightmare. EXCERPT: Chapter 1 On the dark, wind-swept promontory of a tiny, nearly deserted island off the coast of Maine, a creature with yellow-stained fangs and eyes bright as fire stalks its prey. Silver rays from the full moon illuminate the creature’s massive head. A blood-curdling scream punctuates the snapping of neck bones. The victim whimpers a last time, and then dead silence except for the crashing of waves on the shore below.
