Old paint and the distasteful smell of long past decayed meat was pungent, and was all that I could remember. It carved itself into my mind like a dagger when I was left in that place barely alive and tied to a chair. I recall a very annoying tap, tap, tap. It echoed and drove me to the brink of insanity for I could not discern its origin. Later I came to realize it was the sound of my own blood draining from my veins and pooling beneath me. Upon such a realization, I was certain I would pass from the world without even my son realizing. Yet something strange ... something quite miraculous happened that day. Something the likes of which I would never have expected.
