The flames took every one of them. From the circle of dancers, spinning in their madness, to the monstrous killer chained in the “dungeon” below, every man and woman in Concordia Sanitarium was burned alive, the facility destroyed. A century later, the ruins of the asylum stand isolated in California’s bleak Anza-Borrego Desert. Then, an entity is reborn deep in the womb of sand. Now, the Thing from the “dungeon,” once called Bruno Leopold, searches for the right host to help in bringing its brand of violent death to the nearby community of Smoke Tree.
