A man waits for the snow to thaw, in the full knowledge that a body is waiting to be discovered. An old man lives his life in fear, in an old cottage haunted by a ghost that only comes when there's rain. Three children try to break free from a house that seems determined to kill them all. In this collection of eight short stories – some of which are connected, some of which are not – the dead refuse to accept their fate. Some are forceful and filled with vengeance, others are horrified by their own deaths. But in every case, the dead are unwilling to simply be forgotten.
