Alejandro Noriega, a mediocre Spanish writer, is summoned from his refuge in a Norwegian island to write a UN report on the Zombie War in Spain. Hesitant to travel to Spain, largely occupied by hordes of living dead, Noriega decides to take on the project when aside from being offered a juicy amount of money he is offered the chance to know the whereabouts of his family who disappeared in the initial stages of the pandemic. What begins as a collection of different people’s experiences of the zombie epidemic soon turns into a nightmarish journey from Gibraltar to the Toledo fortress, from the independent Basque Country to a Barcelona bombed with nuclear weapons, where Noriega finds himself trapped between two forces who want to be the first to find the mysterious Professor Saviola and his vaccine against the virus.
