“I believe that myth and magic walks hand in hand with God. As a child, I naively clung to my fantasies of finding my prince, falling in love, and living ‘happily ever after.’ Time has a cruel way of distorting the mind, and experience tries to crush, but in the end, successfully represses childhood imagination in its conquest to numb the heart. Overtime, it did just that. One bad relationship after the next, taught me to guard my heart rather than give it. The magic of love had been extinguished and I refused to seek out it’s mystery to reclaim even a flicker of love’s flame. Not at the cost of my heart, I reasoned, it was not worth the risk of losing myself again. Yet, I could not forget the feeling of that sudden shift of fate when I first seen him. My life had been reordered, the path that I laid out for myself nowhere in sight. When I saw him, I knew that he saw me too. Like two parts of a single soul were being cauterized together again. The pain was worth it, for he seen me for who I truly was, and not how other people perceived me. The intensity of his gaze was that of fire—all-consuming, enveloping me until I was laid bare. Completely undone, I could hide nothing; I was emotionally exposed and vulnerable, yet he made me feel safe and protected. The pieces of my bomb-shattered heart found a haven to rest. His fire healed what was broken in me. I knew I could trust him. I never needed to search out love, it sought me. He made me believe once again.”
