The year is 1936. Tyler Pittman is a timid, cowardly reporter from Savannah, Georgia. He has moved to the ourskirts of Savannah to the tiny community of Black Ankle. He is viciously attacked by a werewolf, and from there his life spirals downward. He learns that he must seek the help of a mysterious witch known as the Blackwater Hag, to remove the curse from the werewolf bite. During his quest, he is pursued by moonshiners, and a host of other dastardly characters. He is aided by a friendly beekeeper, and an old black man whose father was a slave freed by General Sherman on his march through Georgia. He encounters many strange tales such as the legend of Spanish moss during his exciting quest. Much of the rich history of Savannah is woven seamlessly into the story line. This is an exciting nail biter that you won't be able to lay down until you've read the last page.
