Leaving troubled lives in Greece, Sarah's family relocates to Kansas where her uncle is employed at an insane asylum. They don't find a new life, only a continuation of the old, just in a new, terrifying way. Sarah confesses to seeing ghosts on Asylum Bridge and is sent for psychological testing. There, she is assaulted by a male nurse and in her defense stabs him to death with a pencil. Sarah is confined to the asylum indefinitely, amplifying her already traumatic life. Jim R. Moore's Ghosts on Asylum Bridge: Winding Road to Enlightenment is historical fiction at its finest, with troubled, complex characters placed in a fascinating point during our country's past.
