Call of Az'kareen (Blood of steel and stars Book 2)

The Az’kari run. Their burning settlement abandoned, they escape to the shelters, leaving behind the home they’d built and the new life they’d fought for. Ainarr stood with the last of her warriors. Those who gave their lives so that their people could escape. Now, in dark, twisting tunnels, where metal rusts and lone voices still echo, lies a network of cavernous mines. Ainarr and her friend Larrk are forced to find their way in the darkness to once more unite with their people. Elsewhere, King Bennain Marcastian recovers from his wounds received during the Battle of the Crimson River. On that scarred field, his army lies shattered. Now, inside the mountain fortress of Vallendian, he comes to terms with his loss as well as his sins, protected by a small force of his elite Mountain Guards Brigade. The young Bennain is forced to ponder his next move, knowing his realm and its capital are now ruled by a sinister cult of corruption. Those who used his campaign to protect the Az’kari as the ideal opportunity to usurp his power. To the east, Tylus plans invasion. The size of his army has only swelled in size and his loyal soldiers have formed a cult of worship around their leader. A being they do not fully understand, yet still, they put faith in his strength, as every day, he grows less and less human.
