The siren—a monstrous bird-woman with the power to entrance humans using her voice. She sings to the hearts of lustful people, beckoning them into her arms so she can devour them and curb her insatiable craving for human flesh. She is an immortal being, fated to live until a human is able to resist her song and leave her vicinity by foot or by death. Amarantham is one of these creatures and her life is all but comfortable. She has been tormented by a vile sea dragon for thousands of years and is at the mercy of the monster’s every whim. To make matters worse, a man named Oliver shipwrecks on her island and is immune to her song. To kill him would be suicide, so Amarantham is forced to keep Oliver alive—but perhaps that isn’t such a bad thing. Perhaps he is the key to all of her problems.
